Unless the outboard summing mixer is intentionally imparting some analogue sonic character, you may well be better off keeping everything inside your DAW - the differences are very subtle. However, with the addition of some choice bits of hardware which can be blended in parallel with the original signal, the benefits of analogue become apparent. Parallel processors include the UBK fatso, Smart C1LA and Overstayer Saturator.
